Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are essential to the mission of Friends of Noxubee Refuge and the Noxubee National Wildlife Refuge. As federal budgets shrink, support groups become more important in helping to protect our natural treasures for the benefit of present and future generations. Members of Friends of Noxubee are involved, at varying degrees, in a variety of activities consistent with the protection and preservation of the environment. Download a volunteer log here.

Volunteering at Noxubee Visitor Center is a great way of helping the refuge. Friends staff the front desk and Noxubee Nature Store. Volunteers are always needed, and you can do as much or as little as you want. Training is available. If you would like to help, contact Visitor Center Coordinator, Barbara Crawford at 662-323-5548.

Noxubee Nature Store

Noxubee Nature Store, located in the Noxubee Visitor Center, carries a wide array of merchandise including books, jewelry, wooden toys, shirts and caps, puppets, decorative items, and a variety of other wildlife related items. Stop by the store to see all the great merchandise and to meet the friendly volunteers.
Additional volunteers are needed to keep the store open on weekends and on days when special activities are scheduled, such as the National Wildlife Refuge Week celebration. To volunteer, please contact Nature Store Coordinator Florence Box at 662-323-6895 or email Florence at [email protected] or call Barbara Crawford at 662-323-5548.

Trail Walkers
Volunteers walk each of Noxubee's eleven (11) trails at least once a month, clearing them of trash and alerting the refuge staff to maintenance issues. Currently the Trailwalkers and their assigned trails are as follows:
